This meeting, jointly organised by the British Geological Survey, the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Seismic Research, is an opportunity to celebrate recent research achievements and look to the future of UK earthquake and exploration seismology. As there is increased emphasis on the necessity of collaborative work to develop novel solutions to scientific problems, the meeting will provide a forum in which established researchers and students can discuss future research directions and the data we need to achieve our goals.
We welcome abstracts for oral and poster presentation on research topics including:
We particularly welcome cross-disciplinary contributions (e.g.linking exploration and earthquake seismology, seismic hazard/risk and social science).
In addition to hearing about latest discoveries, we will hold sessions to discuss the aims and objectives of the UK seismological community over the next ten years, and to plan and initiate programmes of coordinated action. You are welcome to contact the organisers if you would like to see certain topics raised in these sessions.
Confirmed invited speakers: Mark Chapman (British Geological Survey) Mike Kendall (University of Bristol) John McCloskey (University of Ulster) Johan Robertsson (Schlumberger Cambridge Research) Tiziana Rossetto (University College London) John Woodhouse (University of Oxford)
